      We’re honored to have esteemed presenter Dr. Darin Sukha, Research Fellow at the Cocoa Research Centre, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. Among his affiliations are the International Panel of  FCIA/HCP, the Cocoa of Excellence Technical Committee and Taste Panel for the International Cocoa Awards at the Salon du Chocolat

    Who is invited?

    This meet-up is focused on the Southern States, but we invite all FCIA Members and Friends from all over, including chocolate makers, chocolateirs, writers, bloggers, educators and other professionals who support the fine chocolate industry. 

    Cocoatown can accommodate up to 40 people in their facility,
    so registration is required.
      

    Cost 
    $35 per person, includes refreshments.

    There are 5 full scholarships available for current culinary students.

    We're proud that our good friends Chef Stephen Durfee and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), along with chocolatier David Upchurch, are hosting the second annual FCIA Regional Meet-Up in Northern California. And have they got an agenda for you!

    What's on the agenda?  SUSTAINABILITY


    Emily Stone, Uncommon Cacao
    Emily Stone is the Co-Founder and CEO of Uncommon Cacao, a group of Transparent Trade cacao operations including Maya Mountain Cacao (Belize) and Cacao Verapaz (Guatemala). Uncommon Cacao supplies delicious, high-quality, transparently-sourced cacao to over 180 craft and premium chocolate makers globally. Emily is an Ashoka Fellow and Unreasonable Fellow, and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur, Forbes, and Confectionery News. 



    Madeline Weeks, Stanford Graduate School of Business

    Madeline Weeks is an incoming PhD student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she is continuing her ongoing passion for craft chocolate and value along the supply chain. Her work explores production and consumption within the craft chocolate movement. Most recently, she worked with an environmental organization in Guatemala to support an emerging women’s group of artisan chocolate makers. She has previously worked with smallholder coffee through a Gates Cambridge Award and Fulbright Scholarship in Mexico. As a publicly engaged scholar, she works actively with communities to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and collective action. She'll share information about cacao farmer livelihoods.

    • Explore The CIA at Copia Campus. Tour the beautiful Napa Valley campus and explore the restaurant and shops.

    We invite FCIA Members, Friends and non-members from all over - chocolate makers, chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakers, writers, bloggers, educators, culinary students and other professionals who support the fine chocolate industry. 

    Space is limited to 25 participants.

    Student Scholarships
